If you're interested in pursuing Pre-Law at Elmira College, you can do so through many majors, especially those that stress strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Education in the liberal arts and sciences is great preparation for a career in the law, particularly if you choose programs that stress strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
At Elmira College, the Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, History, English, Economics, and Political Science programs, as well as others, will give you a strong foundation as you pursue a law degree.
Please note, if you're interested in pursuing a career in patent law, you'll need to major in a “hard science” such as Chemistry or Biology in order to be eligible to take the patent law bar examination.
Elmira College Criminal Justice majors may be automatically accepted into Keiser University's online Master of Arts in Criminal Justice or online Homeland Security programs. Elmira students also may earn dual credit while attending Elmira College.
EC Criminal Justice majors who have: (1) completed or are within one academic year of completing their Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from Elmira; (2) earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) above a 3.00/4.00; and (3) earned a criminal justice GPA of 3.00/4.00 will:
In addition, Keiser University will automatically accept and award three credits hours for students who complete Elmira College's course, CRJ 4590: Seminar in Criminal Justice, with a B- or better as it fulfills Keiser University's prerequisite requirements in both programs.
