The sustainability program at Elmira will empower you to identify the links between environmental, political, and social factors that influence global health and development.
Would you like to change the world and make an impact in your community? The Sustainability program at Elmira will empower you to identify the links between environmental, political, and social factors that influence global health and development.
You’ll examine contemporary issues such as climate change and environmental ethics through multiple perspectives and viewpoints. Through a combination of interdisciplinary courses and immersive, on-location research in the Finger Lakes and around the world, you’ll also gain firsthand experience engaging with environmental issues and prepare for careers tackling the major challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
Adding sustainability courses is an excellent complement to many majors and will equip you with an in-depth understanding of how our actions impact the world around us. As environmental hazards place increasing pressure on communities, governments and businesses are consulting with environmental scientists and specialists to help them minimize the impact of their operations and new constructions on the environment. This field is expected to grow by 8% between 2020-2030, twice the average growth for other careers.
One driver of this growth is the increasing focus on the environment and the impact of environmental hazards on our communities. In response, businesses and governments are bringing in environmental consultants in order to reduce their impact on nature.
